A New Shipping Need, A New Foam Cooler

Armstrong Brand's Foam Shipper SolutionsOne of the best parts of being a manufacturer of custom foam products is going home at night and knowing you have helped someone solve a problem and improved their business. We continually seek for ways to create better products and expand our line because we realize we work with real people that need real solutions. As we speak with our clients we discover new product opportunities that can help many.

New Cooler Size and Higher R-Value

We are proud to announce that we have added a new model to our insulated shipping container line. The M8109 insulated shipper offers another great foam container perfect for shipping temperature sensitive products over long distances. The M8109 has inside dimensions of 8.25” Long x 10.75” Wide x 9.5” Deep. In addition this new shipper cooler has 1.5” walls.  The thicker walls provide a higher R-value resulting in increased insulation effectiveness for products shipping farther or which require a consistently maintained temperature to prevent spoilage. Many pharmaceutical companies, wholesale meat companies and organ banks commonly use utilize our insulated shipping containers to ensure their items arrive at the destination in perfect condition.

Finding the Right Sized Insulated Shipper

“What is the right sized cooler for...?” We hear this question often and as with most shipping applications there are many variables but also some common best practices. It is important that the product be packed tightly, but with enough room for packing and cooling materials. One common mistake is over packing which can cause damage to the product if the box is dropped because there is not any give within the cooler. Other times it is too loosely packed causing the material to bounce around. The general rule is that materials should be packed tight enough not to bounce around but also have a little room to move. We also keep corrugated cardboard boxes that accommodate all the shipper coolers in our product line for added protection.

When You Need a Different Size

We are proud to be leaders in custom molded foam coolers and will gladly help you determine which of our coolers will be the best for your products or if a custom size is necessary. All of our shippers are manufactured with Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) foam and we can be designed to protect whatever item, food or delicate product you ship.  Please call us at 1-800-725-6415 or contact us here to begin your journey to a new solution.

Foam Pallets - Light, Strong and Cost Effective

For the majority of the population the only thing known about wooden pallets is that they are heavy, cumbersome and expensive to replace. This is magnified in a warehousing environment where pallets are used for shipping everything. Those employed in industry are very used to dodging pallets sticking out from stacks, pulling out splinters and pulling muscles moving them around in warehouses.

Safe, Light and Strong Warehouse Pallets

Foam Pallets are Strong and Lightweight!
Now the good news; Armstrong Brands, Inc. has developed an extremely strong, lightweight and cost effective alternative to heavy wood or plastic pallets. This ingenious Molded Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) design produces a foam pallet that can hold up to 1400lbs safely and is compliant with ISPM #15 guidelines. Weighing only 6lbs, these pallets are easy to move, stack up safely and don't have the liability risks that accompany stacked wooden pallets. This also means less splinters and ripped clothing from cracked, broken and old wooden pallets.

Successful Cost Savings Using Foam Pallets

One of the great benefits is the decreased shipping cost due to the lightweight nature of the pallets. Sold in stacks of 15, it is easy to quickly calculate the savings on weight and shipping cost with truckload shipments. Even more can be saved with the discounts available for quantity purchases. Low weight also means increased safety benefits and Workmen’s Compensation savings. No splinters, nails or crushed toes, means less down time and a lower claim rate.

Foam is Strong like a Super Hero

Foam Pallets Stack Easily and SafelyAdvances in Molded Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) production have resulted in increased strength, durability and effectiveness. Amazingly strong and durable, these foam pallets hold up to rough treatment, machinery and even the toughest employees. You can be assured not only will you love the effect on your bottom line, but your staff will love you for making their job easier. Learn more about Armstrong's Foam Pallets here.

Environmentally Safe Foam Pallets

Eco-friendly and environmentally safe, foam pallets are 100% recyclable and use less natural resources. Foam bi-products and scrap from production can be mixed in and reused for other foam applications. Foam picked up from factories and warehouses can be reformed into many useful items such as clothes hangers or lawn furniture. In some instances Armstrong Brands, Inc, can even help arrange a recycling pick up service. Finally, since they are made of reusable and recyclable materials, no trees are ever harmed during their production.

Environmentally Friendly Foam?

Earth Friendly Foam

Recycle Foam and Help Save the World
EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) is usually not the first thing that comes to mind when the social buzz words green, environmentally friendly and recycled are being used. However, foam is one of the most earth friendly packaging materials available on the market. Armstrong Brands, Inc. molded foam packaging is known for its toughness, versatility and water resistance, but the low impact on the environment and non-toxic properties are equally as significant.

EPS Foam – Protection without the Chemicals

EPS is an inert material, which simply means that when it decomposes or breaks down no chemicals or gases are released into your breathing space. In fact, expanded polystyrene is over 90% air. It is so safe that it is approved for food packaging worldwide and foam containers are often used to transport vital organs for transplant patients. Armstrong Brands, Inc. manufactures thousands of reusable and safe containers for use in the medical, pharmaceutical and food industries and without cutting down one single tree.

Save Money and the Environment Using Foam

By its nature, foam is easily molded and sculpted for many purposes allowing quick and cost efficient manufacturing. Innovations and technological advances in manufacturing have increased production capacity while decreasing byproducts and energy consumption. In fact, in order to replace the current EPS packaging products with traditional cardboard, paper, wood, etc., manufacturing energy consumption would more than double.

Recycled Foam and the Future

100% of the foam products manufactured at Armstrong Brands, Inc. can be recyclable, reused or reclaimed.  There are many different processes that can be used to recycle or reclaim the foam material. Scrap foam and unused foam can be shredded and mixed in with virgin material to be re-molded into a new finished product. Truckloads of foam can be compacted and sent to specialty plants that can re-use the foam for corner protectors on frames and other uses. In some cases the foam is completely reprocessed to make new items such as plastic hangers, cd cases and even lawn furniture. As technology advances the future definitely holds many more uses for recycled and reprocessed foam.

Creativity Before Tossing

Most importantly, think before you throw. Armstrong Brands, Inc. is dedicated to manufacturing high quality and cost effective materials to be utilized in all arenas of business and are equally diligent in finding ways to reclaim used foam.  We make products designed to be reused or recycled. If there is not a recycling center in your area we may be able to help you create a program within your company or organization.  The choice ultimately belongs to all of us to utilize the options before us, and turn a good thing like foam into a great solution.

Help Recycle Foam

Fortunately, we live in a global environment that understands we have the power and responsibility to positively impact our planet. Armstrong Brands, Inc. shares this accountability and fervently explores new processes and innovations that will expand foam recycling and protect our shared environment. First and foremost we must all make an effort to recycle as much as possible. Even though most curbside city recycling doesn’t pick up foam there are recycling centers all across the nations.  To find a foam recycling center in your area please visit: or contact Armstrong Brands, Inc.

Foam Wine Shippers Versus Just Cardboard Boxes

Have some good wine and need to ship or transport it?

There are many beautiful wines in the world and if you live in a place where there is a particularly tasty wine, you may want to send it to a far flung relative or friend. If so, we at Armstrong Brands are here to help you make sure your wine bottles arrive safely and without damage.

Transporting bottles of wine in just a cardboard box is actually quite dangerous. The risk of the bottle breaking is very high, which would be a waste of course. In addition, the wine that spills out of the bottle may destroy other people's goods in shipment. And there is always the danger of someone opening the box and cutting themselves on a piece of glass. Hence, it is very important to make sure you send your bottles in specially designed wine shippers. Even if you are simply carrying your bottles, using cardboard is a risky business. It is all too easy for cardboard to get slight wet, thereby losing its strength and breaking, perhaps while you are carrying bottles. Again, besides the fact that this would mean wasting a lovely bottle of wine, it means you are placing yourself and others around you at risk of injury.

How Do Foam Wine Shippers Work?

Wine shippers can be used whether you want to send your bottles to the other side of the planet, or whether you simply want to carry a few bottles to your neighbor's party. A wine shipper is made out of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) foam. This means the bottles are properly cradled when inside the shipper. The outside of the shipper is made from corrugated carton. This adds strength and durability. EPS foam is lightweight and very strong, so that fragile products are fully protected at all times. Besides this, at Armstrong Brands, we are conscious of the environment and make sure that all our materials are fully recyclable. We use ethical processes in our production and take part in large scale recycling programs.

At Armstrong Brands, we offer 1, 2, 3 bottle shippers. It is possible to expand these into packs carrying six or twelve bottles. For any of these these combinations, we provide corrugated shipping cartons. Our wine shippers can accommodate bottles of all shapes and sizes, including champagne bottles and magnum bottles. We also pride ourselves on our fantastic prices and superior customer service. Besides wine shippers, we can also help you with other shipping needs, including foam coolers and pallets, corner pads, protective packaging, OEM applications, material handling, ICF concrete forms and interior packaging. Whatever your needs are, whatever you want to send and wherever you want to send it to, we will make sure that your items will arrive safely and in one piece every time.

Foam Coolers And Shippers For Your Business

If you are a business that does any shipping, there is a good chance that your products "on the move" need to be protected or insulated. If this is the case, you will definitely want to look at foam coolers and shippers. Because the types of items being sent are often extremely fragile and of high value, you must be able to trust the solution you choose so that your they will not melt, overheat or be damaged. There are quite a number of coolers and shippers to choose from, but it is important to consider what works for your specific business application.

This cooler holds up to 5 lbs. of perishables
Foam shippers and coolers are made to differing specifications depending on the application. Thick walled EPS foam shippers and coolers provide the ultimate in insulation while a thinner wall allows for a larger volume capacity for the same size. However, there is more to coolers than just their raw dimensions. It is a well known fact that EPS foam delivers impressive protection for just about any product. However, what is not as well known is that it has an attribute that makes it the envy of all packaging materials — its dimensional and structural stability. With the right manufacturing process and design, a quality molded foam cooler can provide unparalleled structural strength for its weight.

We have worked with countless customers over the years and heard your needs... The cooler or shipper you need has to be lightweight, sturdy and well insulated. It must be able not just to keep your products cool, but also safe and protected. In terms of efficiency, it should be easy to lift, carry and stack together. When designing and redesigning our coolers over the years we listened and have incorporated these attributes into our line of foam shippers and coolers.

Whether you are shipping frozen peas or a living organ for transplant, it is important that you have every reassurance that the packaging materials you choose are able to meet your needs. This means that you need to find a supplier that you know you can trust. Our company, Armstrong Brands, focuses solely on making sure you receive the foam product or solution that your business needs. We can even custom design the shippers or coolers to your exact specifications.

We pride ourselves excellent customer service and no job is too small for us to complete. Naturally, we also sell a full range of standard shippers and coolers, such as the 5 and 7 inch shipper, the S-10, the 5, 10 and 20 pound coolers and the 14, 26 and 39 quart picnic coolers. Each of them are designed to the highest possible specifications and are designed to fit most items inside them. Whether it is fresh or frozen produce, medical or pharmaceutical equipment or anything else you can think of, we can always come up with a trustworthy solution for you.
